If you have ever thought about learning to hand weave this course will cover all the basics to get you started on your journey...
An Introduction to weaving,
Dressing the loom & designing a warp.
During the course we will make sample swatches of cloth on a variety of weaving looms & you will produce a handmade Woven Scarf, of your own design on either a Rigid heddle or a 4 shaft traditional manual weaving loom.
The Introduction to Weaving course will run on Thursday evenings from the 18th January - 8th February at 7-9pm and there will also be another course running from the 15th Feb - 8th March.
The sessions will be for a small group of 4-6 people only - so please book early to reserve your place. If you would like to book a place on both courses, the second course will be adapted to the level you wish to work at and could include weaving with a finer yarn, weaving on a 4 shaft loom and pattern sampling. There is a £30 discount option available when you book both courses at the same time.
The cost for the 4 weaving sessions will be £85 - this includes use of all the equipment & materials you will need to weave a scarf made with medium weight Cotton or thicker Wool mix yarns. If you book two courses at the same time the total cost will be reduced to £140.
Tea/coffee & cake will also be included!
This course will be an informal experience in a relaxed environment which will hopefully allow your creativity to flow! Aspects of the 'Weaving for Wellbeing' course will be incorporated into the classes...A little music, Colour theory, Aromatherapy, Fresh flowers & rich dark chocolate cake too!
The sessions will take place at The Fenners Building in the town centre of Letchworth Garden City.
